The common causes of oil leakage in cleaning and suction trucks
The common causes of oil leakage in cleaning and suction trucks
December 06, 2023
Many special-purpose vehicles, such as cleaning sewage suction trucks, often experience oil leakage during use. It will directly affect the technical performance of the cleaning and suction truck, lead to a waste of lubricating oil and fuel, consume power, affect the cleanliness of the vehicle, and cause environmental pollution. Due to oil leakage and reduced lubricating oil inside the machine, poor lubrication and insufficient cooling of the machine parts will lead to early damage to the machine parts and even leave hidden dangers of accidents. Therefore, oil leakage from sewage suction trucks is an important part worthy of our attention.
1. Common main reasons for oil leakage in cleaning and suction trucks:
A.The quality, material or workmanship of the product (accessories) is poor; there are problems with the structural design.
B.Improper assembly speed, unclean mating surfaces, damaged or displaced gaskets, or failure to install according to operating procedures.
C.Uneven tightening of the fastening nuts, broken or loose slide wires, etc. may lead to work failure.
D.After long-term use, the sealing material wears out beyond the limit, ages, deteriorates, deforms and fails.
E.Too much lubricating oil is added, the oil level is too high or the wrong oil is added.
F. The joint surfaces of parts (side covers, thin-walled parts) are deflected and deformed, and the shell is damaged, causing lubricating oil to seep out.
G.After the breather plug and one-way valve are blocked, oil leakage will often occur at weak sealing points due to the difference in air pressure between the inside and outside of the tank shell.
2. Measures to prevent oil leakage from cleaning and suction trucks
A. Pay attention to the padding effect. The gaskets between parts of the resting parts of the car (such as joint end faces, end covers, casings, cover gaskets, flat enamel covers, etc.) play a leak-proof sealing role. If the materials, production quality and installation do not meet the technical specifications, the sealing and leakage prevention effect will not be achieved, and an accident may even occur. For example, the oil pan or valve cover is difficult to compact due to the large contact area, thus causing oil leakage.
B. All types of fastening nuts on the vehicle must be tightened to the specified torque. If the gasket is too loose and not tight enough, the gasket will leak; if it is too tight, the metal around the screw hole will bulge or the thread will slip, causing oil leakage. In addition, if the oil pan drain plug is not tightened or loosened and falls off, it is easy to cause oil loss, which may lead to machine damage accidents such as "burning tiles and holding the shaft".
C. Replace failed oil seals promptly. Many moving parts on the car (such as oil seals and O-rings) will be improperly installed, and the journal and the oil seal cutting edge will be out of concentricity and deflect, causing oil leakage. Some oil seals will lose their elasticity due to rubber aging after being used for a long time. Leakage should be updated promptly if leaks are discovered.
D. Avoid blocking of one-way valve and vent valve. This causes the temperature inside the tank to rise, and the oil and gas fills the entire space and cannot be discharged, causing the pressure inside the tank to rise, increase lubricating oil consumption, and shorten the replacement cycle. After the engine ventilation system is blocked, the movement resistance of the piston is increased, which increases fuel consumption. Due to the difference in air pressure between the inside and outside of the tank, oil leakage often occurs at weak sealing points. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out regular inspection, dredging and cleaning of the cleaning and suction trucks.
E. Properly solve the sealing problems of various types of oil pipe joints. Vehicle union nuts are often disassembled and assembled, and the threads are easily broken and loosened, causing oil leakage. Replace the union nut and use grinding to solve the cone seal so that the nut is compressed to solve the seal.
F. Prevent wheel hub from throwing oil. Too much lubricating grease in the hub bearing and cavity, or its oil seal is improperly matched, poor quality and aging failure; excessive hub temperature caused by frequent braking; loose axle nut, etc. will cause the wheel hub to throw oil. Therefore, "cavity lubrication method (that is, appropriate amount of lubrication)" should be used to clear the air holes.
